casa loma...

Casa loma is Toronto's most famous landmark and museum. This was built in 1911's and took 3 years for completion. This was the residence of Sir Henry Mill Pellatt.

This is a must see for visitors in Toronto because of its Architectural character. The building has a beautiful water fountain along with different kinds of flowers which attract the visitors eye. The interior of the building is really amazing and represents the culture. Because of its distinct Architectural character it was even transformed recently into Hogwarts for the release of 7th Harry potter book.

If you are into exploring History and Landmarks this should be on your list.

It is open year round except on the Christmas eve.

Niagara falls.....Canada

view of Niagara falls from Canada
Niagara falls......
A place one must see in life time...
The minute you see it you feel the heavenly gods are showering those sprinkles of water on you...the cool breezes carrying the water droplets just touch you and pass by which reminds you of 1000's of poetry.
I have no words which can explain this beauty...but i say its a must..
Once you get into the maid of mist you would enjoy each and every bit of it.
Not just the day view the falls also offer a spectacular view in the night also. The falls are illuminated every night from 9pm onwards till midnight. If you visit the falls from Canada try to visit the falls during the summer as they have fireworks on the falls every weekend which starts at 9pm and continues till midnight.

skylon tower
The other things to do near the falls is to visit the skylon tower. This tower offers the most spectacular view of the falls along with a rotating restaurant. When you dine in this restaurant you can ride to the top of the tower to the observation desk and enjoy the view for free.

There are many good hotels where you can plan your stay and enjoy the falls.

Belle isle park

belle isle conservatory

Belle isle park is one of the largest island park in entire US. The park is located on the Detroit river and offers a very nice view of the Canada right across on the opposite side. The park has many walkways and very nice views which include different flora, ponds, etc. There are many camping sites where you can have barbecue parties with your friends and also the park has grounds where kids can play.

The fall colors in the park looks really amazing especially the river side trees and their view never lets you take your view from them. As the park is located in the Downtown its important that you should plan on your safety. You might also consider this park in case you are just looking for a drive on a blue day..

Tahquamenon falls....

These are located between Newberry and Paradise in Upper peninsula and there are Upper Falls and Lower Falls. They are famous because of their rusty color and their volume. The color is due to large number of Cider, Spruce and Hemlock trees.

The Upper Falls are located in the Tahquamenon state park. Once you reach the park you have to take a little walk and then 90 steps to get to the falls. Once you get down the steps you can see the awesome view of the falls and their flow. There are different   docks which will allow the visitors to view the falls from different angles. There are many trails within the park which offers scenic view of the Tahquamenon river. These trials are open in winter too for skiing.

The park has a restaurant and  bar which serves a wide variety of food to serve the visitors who are now hungry after taking so many stairs up and down... :P

The lower falls are little far away from the upper falls which can be reached by a row boat and hiking trials.

falls in winter
These falls have their own beauty in different seasons. We have been here in winter as well as in summer. The park is open year round.

Trip to Mackinaw island

This was our first road trip. Mackinaw is such a wonderful place free of pollution and it is totally out of this world. This place to me reminds of the European culture. The island does not allow any motor vehicles. The most important thing what you should decide is if you are not a big fan of nature and do not have any interest in riding a bike, then you might just step behind as you might not enjoy this trip.

To get to the island you have to take the ferry from St Ignace and Mackinac city. The ferry usually operates every half hour and hourly also. You can also get to the island by air. The great lakes airlines offer this service. The ride on the ferry is a very nice experience and you can get the view of the grand hotel and the natural scenes.

Once you are on the island its now your choice how do you decide to explore the island. You can rent a bike and go around the island which is around 9 miles or there is another option for people who cannot ride a bicycle for such a long distance and that is a horse drawn carriers.

The entire coastline of the island is so beautiful when you are riding the bike you feel like clicking pictures all the time (if you are big fan of photography). There are trials in the island which might interest you if you really want to have a look at the scenic views. While you are on your ride and if you feel you are tired you always find many beaches where you can just stop by and enjoy the music of the waters. In the middle of your ride you can find a place where you can get water and snacks to munch on.

There is also a very beautiful rock formation in the middle of the island which is called Arch rock.

The St. Ignace city downtown has some good restaurants where you can try the food which is tasty and the prices are very reasonable especially if you reach there early in the morning the morning buffet would be awesome.

There are several points in St. Ignace downtown which might also interest you.
